Cities are under intense pressure from climate change. This phenomenon is amplified by urban development implemented without environmental principles, unrestrained urban expansion, land use choices, and increased human activity that increases pollutant emissions and heat sources, both spatially and temporally.
It is now urgent for every city to make a smart, comprehensive, and equitable transition from its existing socio-technical configuration to a new commonly desired socio-technical structure that is adapted to climate change, is human-centered, and invests in resilience and sustainability.
In accordance with the National Adaptation Strategy (NAS) and the 13 Regional Adaptation Action Plans (RAAPs), we can transform our grey and fragmented cities into green, healthy, and coherent cities. After the COVID-19, we can build a better future that is resilient, sustainable, and inclusive (Building Back Better).
